Well, that wasn’t so bad.
After looking around to make sure there were no witnesses, I logged on to CBC.ca, went to the Test the Nation section, and clicked on the “Practice Tests” tab.
And after questions in five sections — Language, Logic, Math, Memory and Perception — I was quite surprised that after taking the timed test, I got 8 out of 10. Pretty good considering I’m a dunce when it comes to any sort of quiz-taking. However, I’m not sure what I was more shocked about — that I only got one of the math questions wrong, or that as a writer, I got one of the language ones incorrect. Awesome.
After previous Test the Nations, which centred on language, trivia, sports and Canada, the latest edition is all about what the original instalment was on — IQ.
The live, interactive IQ test will ask questions like, “Which province contains Canada’s brightest people?”; “Who is more clever, older or younger/blond or brunette/married or divorced Canadians?” (In case you care, my answers would be Alberta, older, brunette and married.)
This time around, however, instead of Wendy Mesley at the helm, the live two-hour special will be co-hosted by George Stroumboulopoulos and Carole MacNeil, and the six in-studio teams will feature twins, politicians, believers, atheists, contact-sports athletes and nerds. (My bet’s on that last group.)
Ready to see how clever you really are? Check out how you stack up as CBC updates viewers with results from across the country throughout the show.
Good luck! You’re gonna need it.
Test the Nation: IQ airs live on Sunday, Jan. 24, 8 p.m. ET, CBC.
