Mike and Geoff Howe are two guys after my own heart.
The identical twin brothers have been fascinated with how things work, fabricating and blowing things up together since they were kids. Heck, the duo even married two sisters. Yup, they do everything together, including running their own business in Kittery, Maine, Howe & Howe Technologies.
Now their work and play are the subject of Howe & Howe Tech, which follows the good-natured boys as they build super-cool things, like the Badger. The Badger is a mini-tank that was just labelled the Smallest All-Terrain Armoured Vehicle by the Guiness Book of World Records.
Resembling a steel recycling bin on tank tracks, the Badger was created by the Howe’s for use by police forces. Small, easy to turn and compact, its driver can piledrive through a barricaded door and infiltrate an area where baddies may be hiding.
With international sales in mind, the Howe’s decide to improve on the already award-winning formula, by building a new Badger which has Kevlar sheets inside so that the operator is protected from bullet attacks.
It’s a race against time – the boys want to build the whole thing in a two-week window between projects – which leads to stress between staff members and angst when there are mechanical breakdowns. But of course, things works out in the end, and the Howe’s impress the cops by riddling the Badger with everything from handguns to a grenade and piles of dynamite. All with little effect.
If you like watching burly dudes build things out of metal, and consider arc welding sparks to be as pretty as a rainbow, Howe & Howe Tech is for you.
Howe & How Tech debuts Wednesday, March 10 at 9 p.m. ET/11 p.m. PT on Discovery
