Every season of Big Brother has a twist — Season 4 had “The Ex-Factor,” the fifth instalment was “Project DNA,” the eighth season had America’s Player, while Season 9 was “Til’ Death Do You Part.”

For the eleventh season of Big Brother, the producers have decided to make the house like high school and divided the houseguests into four cliques: Athletes (Jeff, Natalie, Russell), Populars (Braden, Jordan, Laura), Brains (Chima, Michele, Ronnie) and Offbeats (Casey, Kevin, Lydia).

While two of these groups were clearly in their element, both in high school and in the BB house, I felt a little sad for the brains and offbeats, who didn’t seem to dig having to relive an awkward time in their lives once again.

So not only were the houseguests almost immediately divided, they were thrown another twist. A big one. Literally.

During the Head of Household challenge, which they would perform as a clique, whichever group won would get another person from outside the house added to the group. And not just any average Joe or Jill off the street. It would be a familiar face, someone who had competed in a previous season.

If the Athletes won, Jessie from Season 10 would enter the house; if the Brains won, Brian, who was eliminated first from last season, as well, would come in; if the Offbeats won, Cowboy from Season 5 would come in; and if the Populars won, Jessica from BB8 would check in.

Well, because I found Jessie one of the most annoying players in Big Brother history, naturally the Athletes won and he was back in the game. Sigh. Though I suppose if Cappie from Season 6 was an option, I guess I’d rather see egomaniacal, oafish  musclehead Jessie in the house.

Now it seems as though the Populars, Offbeats and Brains are already panicking. All three cliques think that the Athletes are already at an advantage because they have an extra person/vote, and are trying to get in with the group of jocks. Um, wouldn’t they team up to get their numbers up instead, and then get rid of the biggest physical threats in the game nice and early?

I’ve been watching this show for a number of seasons (admittedly, not all, but most). Do I really need to spell out that option. Get rid of the strong people early. It’s that simple.

Class dismissed.
