TVGuide.ca: Hey ladies, congratulations on making it so far in the competition.
Monique Pryor: Aw, thank you! Thanks for starting out by saying that, it means a lot.
TVG: You were an inspirational team to watch, and you said that was something you wanted to do. So, are people coming up to you and saying that you inspired them?
Shawne Morgan: It’s so crazy. When I got home from the Race there were all of these emails on my website from people. And we had already gotten a lot of text messages of support from our family and friends. But this one dad emailed me and said that I wasn’t just an inspiration to moms, but that we were an inspiration to him, the dad of an 11-year-old.
He told me that he and his daughter had a talk after the show, and pointed out that Monique and I were being supportive of each other the whole time, even when things got hard. He said that was the best team play that he’s ever seen on the show. That’s when I had an (emotional) breakdown. It’s been awesome. This has been an awesome experience.
TVG: Have either of you learned how to lasso a cow?
SM: (Laughs) No, but I am going to learn to speak Spanish. That’s one thing that I’ve promised myself that I will do.
TVG: Shawne, did you get more and more rejected as you tried to rope the bull and saw all these other teams going by?
SM: No. I could see in my peripheral vision that people were coming and going, but I was determined not to focus in on that. I just focused on what I had to do. And to hear Monique yell, “What do you need?!” and I told her to pray. And people have asks us if things really happened the way it did (on TV) and it absolutely did. It was clearly divine intervention.
TVG: Monique, how did it feel to stand on the sidelines, and not be able to physically help?
MP: I really wanted to help her, and it was very frustrating. I felt like, sometimes, she was so focussed that she couldn’t see what the other teams were doing to succeed. I’m so proud of her because she was so focused. She told me to pray with her, and that’s when (the lasso went around the cow’s horn). It was a miracle.
TVG: What did you come away with from the Race?
MP: Strength. We never doubted ourselves that we could do this, and we did. We showed that we can accomplish anything that we set our minds to.
TVG: What’s the first thing that you two did when you arrived at Elimination Station?
MP: I cried first!
SM: Yeah, we cried. When we showed up, the place was decorated for Christmas, and we cried because we missed our families.
TVG: Thanks again for your time.
MP: Can we plug our websites?
TVG: Absolutely, please do.
SM: OK, ShawneMorgan.com.
MP: Mine is MomsExtraordinaire.com and MoniquePryor.com.
