Starz is taking a chance on this one. Gravity is a dark comedy about a group of people who are all in therapy because they tried to commit suicide.

Did I mention it’s a comedy?

The series stars Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad, Shopaholic), Ivan Sergei (Crossing Jordan), Rachel Hunter (Confessions of a Go-Go Girl) and executive producer Eric Schaeffer (I Can’t Believe I’m Still Single).

The comedy was the brainchild of Jill Frankly (It’s Like, You Know), who was going through a very dark time in her life, when she conceptualized this series.

“In that moment of sadness there was laughter,” she says. “Because that’s how you survive. I began to think of random ways of offing myself. With each random way there was a name and they became characters.”

While the series appears to make light of a dark situation, producers promise they will deal with the fact that most suicide attempts wind up in death, and each episode will show the back story of a person who survived, and what exactly their own “offing” attempt was.

The series begins in the U.S. in April, but it is currently unavailable in Canada.
