The Celebrity Apprentice has been picked up for a second season, much to the shock (and perhaps dismay) of many tired viewers and critics.

This isn’t The Apprentice, folks. We’re talking another D-List version of the Celebrity Apprentice.

Granted the show had unexpected success when it premièred four weeks ago, success that was greatly attributed to the participation of Kiss front man Gene Simmons, who was fired (or quit) in the third episode.

Another speculated reason for such ratings success is the simple lack of worthy competition in the ripe Thursday night timeslot. This will be put directly to the test tomorrow night with the Season 4 return of Lost.

Not only has NBC announced a second season, but they have decided to extend the live finale airing on Mar. 27, from one hour to two.

Does anyone else feel this decision is a little… quick? The Apprentice was cancelled last season due to terrible ratings and cheesy gimmicks that failed to draw in the viewers (read, executives living in tents). Many felt that this Celebrity edition was one last shove for Trump so that he could exit with some grace.

At any rate, here are my D-List picks for next season’s stars:

• Another Baldwin brother, just for the grin
• Cassie Campbell, because it will need a female athlete
• Tara Conner, with whom Trump has an odd obsession
• Kathy Griffin, who will make fun of Trump then tell him to  “sit and spin” à la Rosie
• Omarosa, because Trump will renew her 15 minute contract for  the umpteenth time
• La Toya Jackson, since Armed and Famous didn’t do so well
• Verne Troyer, who seems to be all over these things
• Pauly Shore, to balance out Kathy Griffin
• Richard Hatch, live from his prison cell
• Blossom, all grow’ed up
