Forget giving the cash to the charity winner of The Celebrity Apprentice – it sounds like the winners themselves could use the $250,000.
Celebrity Apprentice Season 1 winner Piers Morgan has revealed that he snagged roughly $16,000 for his three-week appearance on the NBC reality show.
Writing about the experience in his new book, God Bless America: Misadventures of a Big Mouth Brit, Morgan says, “As we marched down the road, I wondered why am I even in this stupid show. It’s not for the money, because we’re only getting [$16,000] each.”
While you could argue that most participants already have enough money to make ends meet – Morgan judges The X Factor abroad and America’s Got Talent in the U.S., which amply covers his costs – you gotta wonder how Season 2 contestant Andrew Dice Clay is staying afloat in these troubled times.
Here are more Apprentice snippets gleaned from Morgan’s book, which is being serialized in London’s Daily Mail:
- “I’ve flown to New York to start filming Celebrity Apprentice. We gathered today to meet the great man. It was a weird afternoon, 14 massive egos circling each other like suspicious sharks in a small pond.”
- “A woman called Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth sidled up to me ... ‘Do you want a showmance?’ she purred ... ‘Happens all the time on Apprentice.’”
- “I know it’s only a reality show, but if I win it’s going to give huge impetus to my career in America.”
