We’ve known it was coming for a while now — after public hints and the fact that Miley Cyrus is getting older, it was only a matter of time before her series, Hannah Montana, ended its run.

Nothing is official yet, but Cyrus’ dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, told Access Hollywood that he gives “a lot of credit to Miley for taking it to another year. She didn’t want it to just end with whatever was the last episode we did … she wanted there to be an official ending to Hannah Montana.”

Since that’s more of an opportunity than most series get nowadays, fans should be happy there will be some sort of a wrap-up.

Hannah Montana debuted in 2006 on the Disney Channel, and catapulted Cyrus to fame thanks to its worldwide success. It airs on Family Channel in Canada.

The project spun off two feature films, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert (which was released to North American audiences in February 2008) and Hannah Montana: The Movie (which was released in April).

Cyrus’ father told Access Hollywood that his daughter will tape the final 11 episodes and a one-hour finale beginning in January.

In the meantime, Miss Cyrus’ latest film, The Last Song, is in pre-production, and she has two films in development: Girls Just Want to Have Fun and Further Adventures in Babysitting.
