Megan Mullally ready to ‘Party’
For a while there, Party Down looked to be in a bit of trouble when it lost Jane Lynch to Glee. But have no fear, Megan Mullally is here.
The Will & Grace star has joined the cast of the Starz comedy (airing on Super Channel here in Canada), which follows a Los Angeles catering team of Hollywood wannabes waiting for their big breaks.
Mullally will play Lydia Dunfree, a middle-aged woman who trades in small-town life for Hollywood, where her teenage daughter dreams of making it as an actress, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Party Down is scheduled to return in April 2010.
Clark out, Chuck in
Looks like Chuck Bartowski is getting another lady friend.
Kristin Kreuk has signed up for a multi-episode arc on Chuck. The Smallville vet will play Hannah, a girl Chuck meets on a flight to Paris.
“Chuck and Hannah definitely have feelings for each other,” an insider teased EW.com.
Hannah reportedly winds up working at the Buy More after getting laid off from a glamorous publishing job.
This isn’t the first Superman-esque star to join Chuck. Brandon Routh, who headlined the 2006 flick Superman Returns, is also joining the NBC comedy as a love interest for Sarah.
Kreuk’s role on Chuck marks her first major TV gig since leaving Smallville, where she played Lana Lang.
Chuck returns in March.
You see one blood-sucker …
True Blood actor Mehcad Brooks has been cast as a regular in ABC’s midseason legal drama The Deep End, reports THR.
Brooks will play Malcolm Bennet, a new associate at a prestigious Los Angeles law firm.
But the casting raises questions about the future of his True Blood character, Benedict (Eggs) Talley, who was introduced in the first-season finale.
The former Desperate Housewives star was upped to regular status for the vampire drama’s second season and has been prominently featured on the show this summer.
I guess we’ll have to see what happens on True Blood’s finale on Sept. 13.
Rick Fox heading to ‘Melrose’
Forner L.A. Laker-turned-actor Rick Fox is heading to Melrose Place.
Fox will have a recurring role on the CW series, where he will play the owner of the restaurant where all the aspiring actors on the show work, reports THR.
The Canadian-born former Laker has appeared in several shows as of late, including Dirt, One Tree Hill, The Game and Ugly Betty, where he was reunited with his ex-wife, Vanessa Williams.
