Well this is about the best TV transition you could probably think of, isn’t it? Jason David Frank, the former Green and White Ranger on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, has joined the Mixed Martial Arts and it picking fights in the UFC octagon.

Giddy up and call me psyched.

Firstly, Power Rangers was all the rage when I was a young ‘un and it’s fun when a childhood fad somehow meets an adult one. I was never a huge fan of Frank’s character, Tommy, because he had all those leadership issues, but the show itself was cool back in the day. At least it was to me and my brother back in the early ‘90s.

Secondly, besides Amy Jo Johnson, the other former Rangers haven’t exactly had brilliant press as of late, so it’s nice to see a positive story emerge.

TMZ reports the 35-year-old Frank has a sixth-degree black belt, has just signed with a new management team and is hoping to get in the octagon pretty soon.

Looks-wise he should fit right in: he’s covered with tattoos and has a pretty tight-and-tanned body, which always bodes well in oiled battles.

It would be considered lame by everyone but probably me, but I think if Frank actually bounced in with the “Go, Go Power Rangers” theme song I would lose it.

Frank’s news comes on the heels of former Power Ranger actor Skylar Deleon being handed down a death sentence for killing a couple on a yacht and Walter Jones, who played the Black Ranger, being charged with a DUI last July.
