The CW Melrose Place redux might have more drama and less clothing, but nostalgic fans no doubt remember the progressive sweetness between Billy (Andrew Shue) and Allison (Courtney Thorne-Smith) when they bunked up as roommates, friends, a couple, fiancés and eventually, crazy people.
While several of Shue’s former cast mates have embraced the new Melrose, even making guest appearances, the original Billy Campbell shunned the idea.
“Melrose Place was a great show in its time, and if I were calling the shots, I would say don’t bring it back,” he told the New York Daily News last summer. “Leave it as it was at its time. That’s the way it should be.”
The success of the remake is still with the ratings jury and will be determined when the show returns in March, but Shue has other things on his mind nowadays.
People.com reports the 42-year-old actor, who recently divorced the mother of his three sons, Jennifer Hageney, has tied the knot again.
In a private ceremony last Saturday at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers by the Hudson River in New York, Shue married Weekend Today anchor Amy Robach.
The day also marked Robach’s 37th birthday.
“It was the most beautiful night in every way,” Shue told People. “Despite snow, high winds, flight and train delays, every guest made it to the night to share in our new beginning.”
The couple met last April at a book party and were engaged by September. Robach, also divorced, has two daughters with her ex-husband, Tim McIntosh.
According to the publication, the ceremony was quiet and quaint, with approximately 120 guests. Shue’s mother officiated, there was a birthday cake rather than a wedding cake, and the guests brought two songs with them rather than a traditional present.
Dancing ensued.
