To use a terrible cliché, art often imitates reality, and it looks as though ABC dramedy Castle is getting into that business.

Entertainment Weekly reports the show has diverted from its usual storylines for an upcoming episode, and is taking inspiration from the recent late-night feud between Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien and NBC.

The episode, which airs April 12, stars Dancing With the Stars co-host Tom Bergeron as late-night host Bobby Mann, whose lines are cut short when he’s offed. The prime suspect? A rival host who has wanted the late-night timeslot for ages, played by Bill Bellamy (Any Given Sunday, Last Comic Standing).

According to the publication, those aren’t the only stars making guest appearances in the episode. Back to You star Fred Willard will play Bergeron’s sidekick, while 3rd Rock From the Sun star French Stewart will play an investigator.

This isn’t the first time a crime procedural has been inspired by a real-life late-night controversy; last November Law & Order announced it was planning an episode based around David Letterman’s extramarital affair scandal, in which one of his employees tried to secretly bribe him.

Castle is currently in its sophomore season and stars Canadians Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion as a detective and novelist, respectively. It airs on ABC Monday nights at 10 p.m. ET.
