What has two thumbs and is eagerly anticipating the return of HBO’s True Blood? This gal. And now even more so, thanks to some news from star Stephen Moyer and MTV.

The TV vamp tells the station that in addition to new cast members, Season 3 of the award-winning series will star some four-legged creatures.

“I’ve been working with real wolves and I mean you don’t get to do that very often,” the 40-year-old, who plays Bill Compton, says. “They’re beautiful and huge and wild and feel like the size of lions. It’s unbelievable.”

True Blood is based on Charlaine Harris’s Sookie Stackhouse novels, and during the course of the first two seasons the storyline has kept true to the books — with a few creative liberties.

In the third instalment, when vampire Bill disappears, Sookie (Anna Paquin) works with a werewolf — Alcide — to get him back. Joe Manganiello (One Tree Hill) has signed on to play the role in the upcoming season.

“I don’t want to give anything away!” Moyer says, tight-lipped about how or when Alcide makes his debut.

True Blood returns this summer to HBO Canada.
