Dr. Drew Pinsky is reaching out to DMX. The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was arrested Tuesday for allegedly violating his probation by using drugs.

His lawyer, Gary Jenkins, says reps for Pinsky’s Celebrity Rehab contacted him soon after about DMX appearing in the VH1 reality show.

According to TMZ.com, Jenkins says the folks behind Rehab are thinking about sending someone to DMX's next court hearing to speak with the judge to try and get the 39-year-old placed in their care instead of going to jail.

The move wouldn’t be unprecedented for Pinsky – he did the same with Season 4 American Idol finalist Jessica Sierra.

DMX is currently being held on no bond and is expected back in court March 16.

The rapper has starred in his own reality show called Soul of a Man, which aired on BET in 2006. He’s also appeared in big-screen flicks including Belly, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave and Romeo Must Die.

This isn’t DMX’s first run-in with the law. In 1999, he was arrested and charged for animal cruelty and possession of drugs and weapons. In 2000, he was booked for driving without a license and possession of marijuana, among other charges.

In 2004, he was arrested on charges of cocaine possession and criminal impersonation (among other things).

It was announced this week that Pinsky, who also fronts VH1’s Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew and Sober House along with MTV’s Sex...With Mom and Dad, recently quit his post as co-medical director of Aurora Las Encinas Hospital.

After the death of Corey Haim on Wednesday, Pinsky told People.com the ‘80s heartthrob had declined an offer to appear on Celebrity Rehab.

Last week, we reported that the addiction-medicine specialist came to the aid of Diff'rent Strokes actor Gary Coleman when he suffered a seizure on the set of The Insider.
