On Jon & Kate Plus 8, Kate Gosselin was often painted in a negative light, leaving viewers wondering if that was just crafty editing on TLC’s part or if the mom of eight is really that cranky.

Well, it seems like her less-than-charming demeanour may have nothing to do with editing at all.

Gosselin is reportedly a “total diva” on the set of her latest reality endeavour, Dancing With the Stars, snubbing other contestants and behaving coldly to crew members, sources tell New York Post’s Page Six.

U.S. Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir supposedly pulled out of talks to be on the show because he didn’t want to work alongside Gosselin.

“Kate doesn’t want anything to do with other contestants. While there’s a lot of camaraderie among the crew and other stars including Pamela Anderson, Kate has set herself apart … she wants to be queen bee,” said the source.

But a DWTS source claims the opposite, saying, “She’s been rehearsing in Pennsylvania to be near her kids. For the short time she was in L.A., she and the cast got along great.”

DWTS is allowing her to rehearse in Pennsylvania with her partner, Tony Dovolani, in a makeshift studio in her basement so she can stay close to her children as long as possible.

We’ll be able to see whether Gosselin’s dancing is worthy of diva behaviour when DWTS returns on Monday, 8 p.m. ET, on ABC and CTV.
