Hi ho, this is exciting news from the puppet world. How I Met Your Mother actor Jason Segel has found a star for his upcoming Muppet movie: himself.
The 30-year-old actor and writer, who is co-penning and producing the upcoming flick, will also star as the lead human character.
Tentatively titled The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time, the film’s plot is top-secret. However, rumour has it Segel’s character will work to reunite the original puppets in the storyline.
The film will be directed by James Bobin, whose credits include Flight of the Conchords and Da Ali G Show.
Segel was also the man behind the blockbuster hit Forgetting Sarah Marshall — he wrote and starred in that film as well.
For those who remember, there was a bit near the end when the actor had a chance to interact with some Dracula puppets, showing us he’s more than comfortable in the role. In fact, many believe Segel used that part of the film to begin this Muppet campaign.
Other rumoured stars to appear in the film include George Clooney, Alec Baldwin, Sean Penn, Chris Rock, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Mel Brooks, Matt Damon, Norah Jones, Sarah Jessica Parker and Ben Stiller, according to filmonic.com.
