Just as Canada is gearing up to host a homegrown version of Top Chef (starring celebrity chef Mark McEwan), comes word that Bravo! is thinking of unrolling an all-star version for its upcoming eighth season.

According to TV Squad, the reality cooking competition series is returning to basics next year, responding to fan complaints about the current crop of Washington, D.C., contestants, and bringing the show back to New York.

Camera crews have reportedly been spotted in and around town filming chefs like Angelo Sosa and Tiffany Derry from Season 7, Tiffani Faison and Stephen Asprinio from the first season, Dale Talde and Spike Mendelsohn from Season 4, Carla Hall from Season 5 and Michael Isabella from Season 6.

I suppose if Survivor can pull off an all-star, Heroes vs. Villains edition, than so can Top Chef, right?

The latest instalment of Top Chef, Season 7, began on Food Network Canada last week. The previous season, which took place in Las Vegas, pulled in an all-time viewer high for the network with 360,000 people tuning in last September.

The show won an Emmy at the end of August for Best Reality Competition Show, beating out The Amazing Race for the first time in the category since its conception.
