Last week you wouldn’t know if you checked the official CBC website, but the public broadcaster’s new fall comedy, Men With Brooms, has been delayed until October.
The half-hour laffer was originally slated to begin on Sept. 20, amongst a slew of new programming and returning series, but it will now bow two weeks later, on Oct. 4.
Brooms is based on the popular Canadian film of the same name, which starred Molly Parker and Paul Gross. Gross serves as an executive producer on the TV version, and makes guest appearances as the legendary Chris Cutter.
The new cast includes Brendan Gall (Overruled!), William Vaughan, Joel Keller (Durham County), Anand Rajaram (Across the River to Motor City), Aliyah O’Brien (Intelligence) and Siobhan Murphy (The Smart Woman Survival Guide).
The series was created by Paul Mather (Corner Gas, The Rick Mercer Report, Little Mosque on the Prairie), who also serves as an executive producer and showrunner. He is also back on-board for the sophomore season of CTV’s Dan for Mayor, which he co-created with Kevin White and Mark Farrell.
Also executive producing Men with Brooms are Laszlo Barna, Ari Lantos and Jamie Brown.
The series will air Mondays at 8:30 p.m. ET, after the Battle of the Blades results show.
