Remember the days when you would set your VCR to record a show when you weren’t home to watch it? Well, we thought we had it good in this age of personal recording devices, but turns out nowadays, you no longer need a TV.

CTV has announced that virtually its entire lineup will be featured online. Launching on Sept. 20, fall’s big premiere week, CTV.ca will feature an enhanced 16:9 video player, where you can watch most of CTV’s primetime schedule. The choices are seemingly endless, featuring some of the buzzed-about new series, not to mention returning favourites.

“There is a growing demand and dedicated audience for network programming online, and we are aiming to be ahead of the curve to meet that demand,” said Alon Marcovici, executive vice-president, Digital Media, CTV Inc. “This programming expansion is a delivery on our commitment to ensuring that our audience has access to the best shows from across the schedule. Almost every primetime show, and a fair share of daytime and late night programming, will be available to CTV.ca viewers.”

CTV.ca ended the 2009-10 broadcast season as Canada’s No. 1 TV portal, with more Canadians watching CTV.ca for online video than any other Canadian broadcaster (according to comScore Video Metrix). CTV’s online video consumption also grew 55.5 per cent year over the previous year (according to stats from Omniture).

But CTV isn’t the only Canadian broadcaster that features its shows online. Globaltv.com will feature many of its new and returning shows, including Hawaii Five-0, Shattered, Survivor, Bones, 90210, Lie to Me, Lone Star, Glee, Outsourced, The Good Wife, House, Family Guy, Outlaw and The Apprentice. Citytv.com will continue to offer videos of its hit shows, like 30 Rock, Parenthood, Community, Cougar Town, Fringe and The Biggest Loser, as well as its new series Undercovers, The Event and Chase.

On CTV.ca, every episode can be seen the morning following its televised broadcast. Weekly series will be made available for about three weeks after it has aired, while daily shows will be on the site for one week following broadcasts.
