For six seasons on Desperate Housewives, Gaby has made reference to her fashion model past, but it wasn’t until last night when she was chasing down her niece in The Big Apple that we actually got to see a glimpse of her former life — and it wasn’t pretty.
Despite the glitz and glamour of magazine covers and beautiful clothes, Gaby was a downright spoiled brat in her younger days — yes, even more so than she is now — and it was this diva-like attitude that cost her a long career on the catwalk, not her marriage to Carlos as she previously intoned.
According to Gaby’s supermodel “friends” Heidi Klum and Paulina Porizkova (guest-starring as themselves), the petite brunette used to waste three hours on a shoot trying to find the perfect lipstick, and taped toilet paper to models’ shoes and then laughed as they pranced down the runway. Not so fun if you’re trying to work, I’m sure, but such a funny (and classic Gaby) practical joke nonetheless.
In addition to learning about Gaby’s younger days, we also got a major revelation from Angie. Turns out, the man she’s been in hiding from for 18 years — Patrick Logan — is none other than Danny’s dad. And thanks to Angie’s mom’s nosy neighbours (and Gaby’s big mouth), it looks like Patrick is heading straight for Wisteria Lane. Keeping in mind this is actress Drea de Matteo’s only season of Housewives, my guess is her character only has one of three options when he shows up — jail, a new life on the run, or death.
Meanwhile, Preston made his return from Europe, sporting a hideous new moustache and a European gold digger on his arm (guest star Helena Mattsson); Katherine was confused by her feelings for Robin (guest star Julie Benz); Bree discovered Sam (guest star Samuel Page) was fathered by her dead husband, Rex; and Mike tried to prove his masculinity to Susan.
Next Sunday, look for Logan (guest star John Barrowman) to make an appearance in Fairview, while Susan and Gaby go to extreme lengths to top each other’s kids — again.
Desperate Housewives airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on CTV/ABC.
