The lack of quality Canadian shows is an increasing problem in the farce of Canadian television. Sandwiched between tumultuous U.S. schedules or banished to the Friday and Saturday night back burners, Canadian content has become obsolete.

By our very own definition, a series’ success now depends on whether or not it can procure a U.S. broadcaster to bring in the big Nielsen numbers and share the financial burden attached to our shows.

Yet every week I’m bombarded by readers who, although they care about the status of Grey’s Anatomy, Dexter or Lost, also want to know about the homegrown shows.

While some series’ fate are unknown, some of the shows I am most frequently asked about — Defying Gravity, Wild Roses, J-Pod, Intelligence, Sophie, Da ‘Kink in My Hair, The Best Years, Billable Hours and MVP — are gone forever. To facilitate the answers of other shows, I’ve decided to prepare a special Top 10 this week to update everyone.
