Regular folks like to keep their petty family arguments behind closed doors. I mean, don’t we all want to appear as though we’ve got control over our emotions and don’t let petty things set us off? Still, in the reality TV realm, infighting and feuding amongst family is par for the course, and in some cases it’s necessary for the success of the show.
Think Spencer and Stephanie Pratt. Stephanie — along with Kristin, Audrina, Holly and Lo — cut out Spencer and Heidi from their lives for good, and that episode marked the last appearance of Speidi on The Hills. And how about American Chopper? After six seasons of bitter fighting over creative control, Paul Teutul Jr. walked away from his father’s company, Orange County Choppers, and set up his own, Paul Jr. Designs. Never one to look a gift horse in the mouth, TLC recorded it all for Season 7. Expect fireworks to fly. But it’s not the only show to spotlight feuds in a bid for ratings.
