Hi Amber, I read your column every Monday. Is there any word if Fox will bring back More to Love? I enjoyed it and it was nice to see larger women on television for a change. Also, on the subject of More to Love, do you know if the couple is still together? – Daniela
Amber: Hard to say about a second season of More to Love. Whether it was the marketing, the summer airing or something else entirely I couldn’t tell you, but this Fox version of The Bachelor for overweight people just didn’t draw the numbers the original series still does in its 14th season. While there are always rumblings of a possible pickup, the series hasn’t been yet and I haven’t heard any casting news either, which would probably be necessary around this time if the show were to return this summer.
As for original More to Love sweethearts Luke and Tali, they’re no more. I had a very much single Luke on the phone last week and he told me that in the end things just didn’t work out.
“It was kind of like the fairy tale that wasn’t meant to be,” he said. “I don’t think you can pin it on any one thing. Once we were getting to know each other with no cameras on us, it just became evident that we weren’t meant to be together.”
Hi Amber, any news on if The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency is coming back? I love this show. – Daniela
Amber: Sorry, Daniela — not since last January. Can I just say that I really admire your persistence, though?
Dear Amber, I love your column. You always seem to know what's on people's minds. When did the auditions take place for Big Brother Quebec? I'm trying to find the date when someone auditioned so I can find the video. Thanks. – Amanda
Amber: Aw, well shucks. But seriously, let’s dissect this thing, shall we? The French-Canadian version of Big Brother debuts on V March 14, and the series itself was only announced in mid-December. So that pretty much leaves January and February for the auditions — definitely a short turnaround time, huh? There are also some videos on this site; hopefully you can find your person.
Amber, is there any news on when The Cleaner: Season 2 is coming to DVD? I have the first season and I’m desperate for the second! Also, do you know if Amy Price-Francis is going to be on television again? She's my favourite actress and it sucks how she's so unknown because she's so amazing. – Meg
Amber: Unfortunately, no news on either. The second and final season of The Cleaner on DVD hasn’t been announced yet, nor has Price-Francis (agreed, an underrated actress) signed on to any current projects.
Hi Amber, on these renovation shows, especially Holmes on Homes, who pays for all the work that gets done? Many times, Mike goes in fixing one room or problem and the next thing we see is him taking the whole house apart, which I'm sure costs a very large amount of money. In the end, the results are amazing, but it just seems hard to believe that a person can afford to dish out more after already spending thousands of dollars. As always, thanks for your input. – Josephine
Amber: In most cases, the repairs and renovations are paid for by the production company and, in the case of something bigger like Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, donors. Usually those terms are discussed once the participants are cast and the paperwork is signed. Speaking of, did you know how easy it is to apply to be on these shows? Check out the casting calls here.
Hi Amber, is Wife Swap coming back or has it been cancelled? ABC’s website said new episodes were coming, but that was before the Balloon Boy incident. Thanks. – Darlene
Amber: Oh, the Balloon Boy … can that be classified as an incident now? Wait, people are still watching Wife Swap? Just kidding. I saw it once — when Marge Simpson was involved. Anyhow, I’m hearing the show should return at the end of March.
Hi Amber! I love your weekly updates! I am in need of rescue and have no boozy, dysfunctional firefighters to help. When is Rescue Me coming back? – Monica
Amber: Right now, FX has ordered 19 more episodes of the firefighter drama, which could quite possibly be the series’ last order. However, president and general manager John Landgraf says the network will break that order into two seasons, the first of which will be 10 episodes long. Look for it to air sometime in June in the U.S., and shortly thereafter on Showcase here in Canada.
Hi Amber, what happened to Season 3 of Paradise Falls? It began airing a year and half later in Canada after the U.S., but it's been missing from the schedule for months now. It looks like there should still be seven more episodes. – Colin
Amber: You’re right — there are definitely unaired episodes after Showcase pulled the series from its schedule in the fall. The network confirms to me that it will indeed return, but not this spring. Reps are thinking the summer, but details still have to be worked out and confirmed.
Hey Amber, what happened to Without a Trace? I love this show. Thanks. – Heather
Amber: After years of celebrating older viewers, CBS has decided to shun them since they don’t bring in the desired ad dollars. While Without a Trace fared well, it only did so with an older audience and so it was cancelled. It’s what happened to Shark a couple of years back, and what will happen with Cold Case and probably Numb3rs this fall.
Hi Amber, I love your column! I got hooked on Instant Star and I haven’t seen it on in a long time. It used to air in the summer, but I never saw it in 2009. Was it cancelled or is there still hope for another season? Thanks! – Samantha
Amber: Yikes, sorry Samantha, but Season 4 of the CTV series was its last. I sort of liked it too – it was saccharine, but funny, and featured some great actors. I hear that one of its stars, Tyler Kyte (Spiederman), is involved with a band called Sweet Thing though, which is really taking off and is touring around Canada.
Hi Amber, I love checking in with your stories, thanks for all of your hard work! Quick question that may sound weird, but it's bugging me – is Julianna Margulies wearing a wig in The Good Wife? Thanks. – Tricia
Amber: I’m fairly certain those are the actresses own locks on the show, just straightened and styled in a different way. I think I like it wavy, myself.
My husband and I love Little People, Big World, but lately they all seem to be repeats. New episodes used to air on Monday nights, but not anymore. Has the show been cancelled or have the Roloffs chosen not to participate anymore as Zach and Jeremy are starting college? Thank you. – Sonja
Amber: The series has actually been on a bit of a hiatus since January – again, I will point my finger at the Olympics. Luckily for you, the second half of Season 5 begins on TLC this April.

A TV junkie, Amber will watch just about anything – once. One of her biggest pet peeves is when networks bounce shows around their schedule, leading to an eventual cancellation. While current gems include The Big Bang Theory, The Office, Dexter, True Blood, House, Lost and The Mentalist, she’s still crying over the cancellations of Kitchen Confidential and Pushing Daisies.
Now Amber devotes her time to analyzing the current state of TV and helping readers dissect complicated schedules. She’ll answer a variety of questions about past and present shows, spoilers and casting: anything is — and should be, up for discussion.
